Maui and Tane

 


Long ago in the mists of time there were two boys one was called Maui the other was called Tane. They were brothers, Tane was the younger brother he was short-tempered and stronger. Maui was smarter and the eldest brother.


They were in trouble. All the village animals and the forest animals started to come out at night only because then the animals knew that it was too dark for the two boys to hunt. The two boys had to go all the way to the mountain so they could get food. 


They decided they needed a plan and went back to their hut. Maui had an idea “what if we brightened the night by bringing the stars closer then it will be bright enough to see in the dark.” Maui implied. “OK,” Tane replied.


The next day they decided to make massive ropes that were as long as a gorge and were stronger than steel. All the
